Workshops and Classes

I have always believed that art is a form of inspiration, communication, and healing; it gives us voice and the ability to create imagery that invites conversation. It connects us to a sense of place, people, and feelings. The art we create reflects who we are, what we believe, and how we see the world around us.

Nature in Watercolor Workshop

Duration: Five Hours

In this workshop, we will cover the fundamentals of watercolor, color theory, and basic techniques to paint the natural world in watercolor. We will explore brush strokes, color mixing, and making textures in watercolor to create works of art that are visually interesting. We will begin class with a watercolor technique "cheat sheet" to practice techniques and brushstrokes. Students will also learn how to transfer an image onto watercolor paper using a graphite pencil. From there, we will work together on a chosen subject to work through the techniques learned at the beginning of class. Students will be provided materials, direction, and a communal environment to express themselves creatively. This workshop will instill an excitement for the arts, provide students with the necessary tools and skills to create freely, the opportunity to bond with others through creativity, and the ability to connect to the natural world around us through art.

Watercolor Mini Session

Duration: Two and half hours

In the Watercolor Mini Sessions, students will learn basic watercolor techniques to create a loose, expressive mini (5x7 or 7x10) painting. We will cover a few techniques and brushstrokes that will be applied in our paintings as well as how to transfer an image onto watercolor paper. Students will be provided materials and supplies, guidance, and a communal space to explore their creativity.

Watercolor Explorations

Unlock your creativity while exploring watercolors and working with different tools and additives to create unique textures, patterns, and marks. We will experiment with water-soluble crayons and pencils, additives, and inks to create interesting textures and patterns while exploring mark-making with brushes, tools, and found objects. The purpose of this class is to enjoy the process of creating art and using new tools and techniques to inspire your creativity. After exploring mark-making and different water-soluble media, we will apply some of those techniques to create a painting. A water media sketchbook is recommended (but not necessary) if you would like a place to create a catalog of ideas, techniques, and materials.

All supplies are provided for workshops, though, you are always welcome to bring your own supplies.

Workshop pricing is determined based on number of students, supply cost, travel cost, and venue. Interested in hosting a workshop? Reach me at: [email protected] for pricing and details.
